Please note, I am NOT associated with SLS or any SLS teacher. To claim to be would create a lawsuit, because Seth Riggs requires payments to use the SLS method label. I dont' pay the royalties, because I see too many flaws with it. This isn't going to "teach" you SLS, it's just going to show you what the method is all about. YES, there will be audio to support everything. So, you can teach yourself. I am not the teacher. I'm relaying what I have learned, and what is in my experiences. Thank you.
Obviously, I'm starting here now. So, without further notice, welcome to SLS. There are things you need to know, duh. First off, the terms. There is always going to be a lot of terms to learn, with any technique. Also, no matter the technique, though the approaches may be different, they each have similiarities. Any style, when used effectively, can be sang using ANY tech.
So, SLS. SLS is licensed by Seth Riggs, the owner and developer. I prefer Brett Manning. He was a student of Seth's, who was kicked out after teaching the SLS tech at level 5 (highest level, meaning you teach it in its truest form) because he was open to adding in other methods to help the singer.
When considering other techs, SLS is the safest. Why? Because, no matter how constricted you are, SLS teaches you to go into a "mix" of registers. Even at its heaviest and thickest state, SLS is not as heavy and thick as the others. It works on taking the most of the load of the vocal cords.
So, I'm going to start with terms. From this page, you'll go into the different categories. Right now, it's only going to include the registers. It will be most likely be completed this evening and uploaded ASAP. Most of the written parts of this tech will take little time. It's the audio that goes with it that will make it tough. So, please bare with me.
