Aboard The Argo

Docking Bay

A large area, stocked with space going equipment and two scouting shuttles. Stored here, but only known to certain crew members, are weapons. One of the walls can be lifted to allow exit during space travel.

Oscar sucked on a cigarette, the nicotine vapours heated up in time with the sucking action of his mouth and released into his respiratory system, its metallic end glowing bright blue. He and Luke had been prepared to head across to the other vessel since Alec the pilot had brought up a security alert at first sighting of The Polaris. Already suited up for a space walk in their hard-panelled atmospheric gear, they now waited for the scientists that would need baby sitting on this expedition. "You ready?" he asked Luke, already knowing the answer.

"You bloody know I am," Luke grunted. He still made his eyes zoom in and out quickly just for a test. "What are you taking over?" He hefted his own vulcan assault rifle.

"Nothing too big," Oscar said as he stepped aside to reveal the monstrous support cannon he would be wielding. Part shield, the weapon could use explosive rounds, heavy shell bullets, razor-bead ammunition or a flamethrower depending on the situation. He patted its muzzle affectionately. "If there's anything dangerous on that ship, it'll have second thoughts when they meet Big Bertha."

Kyarion entered, carrying a toolbox he had just picked up. "Good day, friends!" he announced and went to fetch a space suit as well. "Expecting something exciting to be on board?" he asked while putting on the suit.

Luke snorted through his nose at Kyarion's question. "Expect the unexpected," he quoted before lifting his assault rifle and checking that his eyes sighted along it suitably.

The elevator opened and Nytera slunk through and along the wall. She already knew who was in here and where they were thanks to her modified eye. She need to get to the ship... So she snuck behind the crates and circled the perimeter as she waited for an opening to make it unseen.

Just as Nytera moved out of sight, Marcus stepped out of the elevator. He headed for the three men gathered and waiting to disembark. "Have you seen my niece Nytera?" he asked them. "I think she might attempt to get on board this other ship."

Oscar puffed on his e-cigarette again and shook his head. "Just us three," he said to the newcomer. He noticed the lack of space-suit on Marcus. "If you're coming with us, you need to suit up. Otherwise, you'll have to leave. As soon as the doors open, this bay will de-pressurise and the temperature will drop to near as sub-zero as makes no difference."

"I'll wait until you leave," Marcus said, shaking his head. "Just in case she turns up." He wanted to ensure that the girl wouldn't come down the elevator at the last moment.

Nytera scowled disdainfully as she listened to her uncle speak. With him watching it'd make it that much harder for her to actually make it to the ship... However, as long as he was paying attention to the elevator she should be just fine. She glanced around and kept moving, she wanted to tuck herself into the small space between the tail and body, the curve there would provide a good spot to hang on and she was fairly certain that she could puncture the hull enough to hang on without putting anyone in danger.

On Oscar and Luke's suits, the comm systems activated and the main pilot's voice came out: "This is Alec Polansk. Let me know when your helmets are secured and I can activate camera feeds."

"Will do, sir," Oscar replied. He deactivated his e-cigarette and placed it in a pouch on his belt. "Just waiting on two more to join us."

Kyarion had gotten his space suit on and was spending his time checking its systems. "Were Pace and Zhora losing their scanners?" he mused as they waited. He looked absent-mindedly at the shuttle while imagining what they could find.

Nytera was hidden behind several large crates, she was watching the men in the room through the wood and was suddenly grateful for her eye. She waited until they turned away and then held her breath as she made a dash for the back of the ship. She was fervently praying she hadn't been seen as she jumped up and her clawed hand dug into the hull of the ship. She cautiously crawled into the small curve she'd been watching. Her body was a little large and she felt cramped but she was really to pay the price. She slowly dug into the metal, it felt like hard butter to her modded fingers and she had to hold on lightly, scared of puncturing the hull completely and alerting ship's sensors. She laid her forehead on the cool metal, the warmth of the ship's engines were messing with her heat detection for now she was blind and uncertain if she'd been caught.

Pace stopped as he reached his destination for Zhora and grinned even wider the moment he saw Marcus. "Are you coming along, too?"

Marcus shook his head at Pace. "I'm just waiting. Watching. I don't want Nytera trying to sneak on to The Polaris."

"Ah. Of course." Pace nodded.

Zhora entered the area of the docking bay directly behind Pace, still carrying all of the possible supplies that she and the male had picked up from the science center. Smiling at everyone, she walked closer to the mass of people. "Sorry for the hold up. Is this everyone that's going on?"

"It is now," Luke muttered as he clipped on his helmet. "The rest of you, get sorted."

Oscar followed suit, his helmet seeming smaller due to his larger physique. "You," he said, pointing at Marcus. "Out now."

Nodding grudgingly, Marcus went to the elevator and took it up to Argo: Horticultural.

Pace looked mildly confused as he started putting on one of the suits. Isn't the shuttle air-locked? ...Oh, but we don't know if the Polaris is damaged! But why would we put on the helmets now?

Kyarion looked at Zhora and Pace when they entered. "Ready are." When they started putting on their suits, he also put on the helmet and took the toolbox into the shuttle. "Hmm, we need seeing how we dock..." he said as he remembered he hadn't spotted any docking mechanisms on the Polaris, but they would cross that bridge when they got to it.

Clipping his helmet into place, Oscar activated the comms-link. "Polansk, we're suiting up now. Confirm current links with myself, Smith, and Kavarinen. Helmet cam links pending for Dee and Locklear." He nodded as he received Alec's response. "Helmets on, comms on. Come on people, the day is wasting."

Luke flicked the tab that would enable communication between himself and the other team members, as well as with the cockpit. With that done, he headed into the shuttle and settled into the pilot's seat, making last minute checks of all systems.

With a nod, Pace finished suiting up and put on his helmet and the communicator. He was still mildly confused with why they needed the helmets on so soon, but was too excited to question it.

Nytera felt the ship vibrate and suddenly remembered she'd yet to put on her helmet. She panicked, ruffling around her waist until she pulled it loose and pulled it over her head, twisting it in place. Now she was ready and she grabbed on tighter as her heart beat starting going a million miles a second.

Following everyone's examples, Zhora began suiting up herself, making sure that everything was completely covered. The last thing she wanted was some sort of accident on another ship. After her suit was done up she slipped her helmet on over her vibrant hair, activating the systems so that she was linked up to everyone else. Once everything was done, she boarded the ship with all of her tools in tow. Despite the slight skepticism she felt about the situation, she was also excited somewhere deep inside to see what they'd come across.

Oscar followed Zhora onto the shuttle, easily lifting his cannon in with him. He stowed it away in a compartment for their flight across to The Polaris before standing at the doorway and closing it. With the shuttle locked, he stood at a stanchion and held onto it. "All away members on-board. Ready to disembark The Argo. Smith, confirm systems are a go."

"Systems are a go," Luke sounded out. "Activating pressure locks." He tapped a button on the console and a 'CLUNK' rang through the ship. "De-pressurising docking bay." He tapped in a number of commands, and alarm lights lit up bright red in the docking bay. "Opening bay doors." After another command tapped in, he watched the docking bay doors slide open silently - due to the gravity still in affect on the ship and the de-pressurisation, the other items in the bay remained stationary. "Awaiting final go."

"Yeh're good to go!" Alec's voice was fed through to all of the away team.

Luke grinned. Without a moment's hesitation, he tapped in another couple of commands into the console and the shuttle rose from the deck. Another, and the shuttle was shooting out of the docking bay and to Polaris: A, carrying its crew and Nytera along with it.

2013-07-16 [ancienteye]: XD Probably never lost popularity as a classic, huh?

2013-07-16 [Veltzeh]: I'm having some trouble believing they're allowed to smoke. X)

2013-07-17 [CuteCommander]: I figured items like E-Cigarettes would be a common narcotic - just the nicotine vapour, no carbon monoxide, tar, or dangers for others in the area.

2013-07-17 [Veltzeh]: Hmm, I don't know much about those but I guess that would work.

2013-07-29 [ancienteye]: ...I think Pace just confused himself by thinking too much. @__@ I do that all the time...

2013-08-07 [CuteCommander]: When I have a spare moment, you guys all going to be rocketing off to The Polaris!

2013-08-08 [CuteCommander]: Sorry ancient, I assumed everyone was on the shuttle. Can we assume this for Pace?

2013-08-09 [ancienteye]: Yes, you can assume it. :)
