Episode 23

If I still had fingers, they'd be crossed.

Jon turned to richard, then set off in a pace down the hallway.

"Where are we going?" Kenzi said, Jon had picked her up fully holding her up pacing the pods not finding an unused one.

"Shit..."

Kaitlin aimed her heavy shotgun around awkwardly. "I've never played this game...what's supposed to happen next?"

"All hell is about to break loose, that's what!" Jon added, an edge to his voice.

The corridors had become unusually quiet. All the previous machine-gun fire and plasma crackles had died down. The enemy wasn't upon them, which meant only one thing.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Blue light streamed into the windows as the plasma torpedo impacted somewhere a few decks above their heads.

Richard tried snapping his fingers. "Of course! There's still one pod left!"

Jon immediately remembered as well. "We better hurry..."

The Gang broke off at a sprint, Aero leading the way, her jaguar legs much faster than the rest of the Gang. Somehow she had managed to remain untouched in the previous firefights, if but a little shaken up.

Reaching a large elevator, the Gang all piled in, and waited as it began its ascent.

"What the heck?!" Brian groaned. "What are you talking about there's one more escape pod?!"

"Didn't you ever read the book?" said Richard.

Brian shook his head. "No..."

"Captain Keyes gets out with the rest of the Bridge crew," Jon explained, re-adjusting Kenzi on his shoulder. "We'll bump a ride down with them."

The elevator came to a stop.

Richard poked out his head uncertaintly then motioned to the group and they all went out, aero became tense as if looking for something that wasnt there.

Jon held up a hand. "Dont move, watch the air, keep your eyes on a fixed point." Jon handed Kenzi to richard then went forward, slowly, passing Kaitlin slipping the shotgun from her. He shouldered it, then Jon whipped around. "BEHIND US!" Jon rushed but not before four blue plasma bolts zinged by singing the shirt Jon was wearing. Jon unloaded a shot then threw him self head long into the now visible elite, one more shot and he was down. "everybody okay?" Jon turned to see the answere.

The rest of the Gang had all taken off running in the opposite direction, and was now rounding the corner towards the bridge.

"HEY!" Jon exclaimed. "Whatever happened to a simple thank-you?!"

The Bridge Crew were all making their way to the emergency pod, and upon seeing five kids with guns and jaguar, all pulled out their sidearms. Richard saluted to Captain Keyes.

"Captain. We need your help."

Keyes eyed the ragtag bunch. "It seems the Lieutenant's observation on the situation was an understatement." He helped Kenzi into the pod. "Get these kids onboard, we'll ask questions later. Leave the animal."

"Not Aero!" Kenzi exclaimed.

Aero gave off a low hum that could almost be compared to a whimper.

"Child, don't make me--"

"LOOK OUT!" Jon shouted, whipping up his gun.

A plasma sword ignited floating in the air, and as Jon's weapon fire impacted, the outline of a camoflauged Elite became visible.

Jon darted forward hand flung out to grab Keyes, pulling him back, Richard unloaded with his Assualt Rifle, knocking him back further. Jon fired again then the elite fell.

Then all hell broke loose.

About twenty SpecOps Elites materilized, and ignited plasma swords. The bridge crew shouted "Screw this!" and closed the door. From out the window the last escape pod could be seen flying off towards the giant silver onion ring...of death.

With only six humans in all to fight back, and the Elites clearly having the upper hand in strength and speed, the odds were stacked against them fifty to one. But the Elites had a different idea. The one in white armor pointed at the Captain, and a fizzy translation of English buzzed through his mouth piece.

"You! Human Ship Master! Come with us!"

Captain Keyes folded his arms. "You'll have to pry my cold, dead--"

"WE SURRENDER!" Brian screamed.

"Sounds good enough to me," said the same Elite.

The rest of the Elites quickly surrounded the rag-tag group, thumped the hilts of their blades (the un-plasma part) on everyone's heads, and it was lights out.
