When I first got Dan Brown's set of books at Christmas I had a lot to read. But somehow one of his books, and probably his most famous one, The Da Vinci Code, escalated up my list. This was mainly because of its brilliant reviews from past reviewers. It had been recommended by my English teacher as one of the best books he had ever read and he ensured us he's read a lot, well he is 50 odd years old. My friends had also encouraged me to read it.
So on with the book. I had been told to expect the unexpected when I eventually came round to reading it. As soon as it started I understood why. The beginning of the story puts an elderly man in a life threatening situation. An albino with a pistol is the main problem. As you have probably realized this is not a good thing. The man is killed evilly; however, he is left living for fifteen minutes, enough time for him to write a message next to his dead body. This message is broken all the way through the story by the main two characters. An American symbology expert named Robert Langdon who is called into the murder investigation to explain the symbols around the crime scene, and also because the last line of the message the man left read P.S. Find Robert Langdon . Secondly, a cryptology agent working for the FBI named Sophie Neveu; she was brought in because of a code that is later revealed as part of the code the story is about.
This book tells a story full of real life facts and highly detailed history, of Christ and the Christian faith. It also tells of two secret societies: Opus Dei and Priory of Sion . Also, it tells of the lifetime of the artist, scientist ,and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci. It describes his painting in great detail and the reasons, symbolic and spiritual, behind the pictures.
This book was a great read and most people should enjoy it. If you like mind-boggling puzzles you will enjoy this. It is suitable for most ages, however you may miss some of the story line if you skip or skim read. Overall I found it a very good read.
This book is available from all good book stores; or online stores like Ebay or Amazon.
