Pooka

An Irish demon that tends to manifest as an evil-looking goat or (more recently) as a small black horse tht entices people to ride on its back and then throws itself and its rider into a lake or river, where the rider always drowns. There are also reports of pookas appearing as menacing-looking black dogs, which tend to attack lonely travelers at crossroads in the middle of the night. Pookas can sometimes be merely mishievous-misleading or frightening travelers-but are more often deadly.
