The world has been ravaged... by a plague, by a war, and by a savage greed. After the limit of compound fuels and oils was reached, after the governments of selfish countries blamed one another for witholding the remnants of precious resources, and thereafter attacked one another for them... nothing was left. Instead of moving forward, the world has fallen back in time. Though the year is well into the 25th century, weapons are obsolete, cars now stand as statues, and buildings have crumbled to the ground.
America is now only made up of a few remaining states along the West coast--all others wiped out by a plague that made living conditions dangerous--and whatever is left of the Democracy is struggling to make obedient the survivors. Rebels threaten the borders, along with packs of wild animals, but conditions inside the borders are no better. Men are forced to work in labor camps and the women are forced to bear children after their eighteenth year, kept on different sides of the territory so that they never see one another.
So what happens when one of them escapes and learns the truth of how the world really came to an end?
What happens when the Democracy is threatened?
