Jace grimaced a little. "One of the clerk twins knows how to bake, right?" He thought he heard one of them mentioning it, but he usually does not pay much attention to them.
"Yeah I think Meko does."
David grinned... "And the other is good at arts and crafts."
"Wow! Cool!"
Alan said with a huge smile as he watched Alex throw a bunch of daggers into a training dummy.
"I'm glad you think so."
Alex said smiling at the awestruck look on Alan's face.
"That sorta stuff's important for birthdays, right?"
Jace rubbed the back of his head.
David gave a look that as if Jace was kidding or not. "Yeah most parties have
'That sorta stuff'. Well lets get them done with training first."
"Right."
Jace turned to the recruits with a holler. "Yo pups! So you're both blades, eh?" The wolfish grin stretched across his face. "I'd like to see how you two compare. Disarm your opponent!"
Alex looked over at Jace then back at Alan, "Time for fun." He said with a smile.
"O-Ok."
Alan said with a nod and a smile as he got into an attack stance.
Alex smiled as he threw daggers at Alan as he ran at him with a smirk.
Alan used his sword to protect himself from the daggers, he gasped when he didn't see Alex anymore.
"Behind you."
Alex said with a smirk as he threw more daggers at Alan who quickly got out of the way.
'Dang it, I underestimated him.' Alan thought to himself as he got up and charged at Alex.
Alex smiled as Alan charged at him and he threw more daggers, his smile faded as Alan disappeared.
Alan reappeared and kicked Alex's feet out from under him making him fall to the ground.
Alex let out an 'Oof' as he fell to the ground and his stuffed tiger with his daggers in it flew out of his hand. Alex sighed as Alan stood over him with his sword inches from his throat. "Isn't that cheating?"
"Nope."
Jace answered Alex's question. "I said 'disarm your opponent'. I never said you couldn't play dirty to do so. Trust me, most people here have done worse to make an arrest."
Alan smiled as he put away his sword and offered Alex his hand to help him up.
Alex chuckled, "Well I guess it's alright then." He said taking Alan's hand and getting up.
"Nice fighting!"
David said with a chuckle as he remembered what some other people have done.
"Thanks."
Alan said with a small smile as Alex went over and picked his stuff tiger back up.
"Alright, then. Keep in mind that when you're on an actual battlefield, being disarmed is no excuse to stop fighting."
Jace gestured for David to slink off and get started on the arrangements as he grinned evilly at Alan and Alex. "So let's see what you two are capable of without your blades. Try and take me down."
Alan blinked, "Alright." He said looking at Alex then back at Jace.
"So we can do anything as long as we don't use our blades?"
Alex asked with a smirk.
Jace's expression mirrored Alex's. "Just try, pup."
Alex looked at Alan and winked before he ran at Jace and tried to punch him.
Jace dodged swiftly, curving around Alex's attack to end up behind him, kicking the recruit in the backside to knock him off-balance as he scoffed. "C'mon. Give me more credit than
that."
Alan came up behind Jace and tried to kick his feet out from under him as Alex staggered backwards but prevented himself from falling.
With a smirk,
Jace hopped effortlessly over the kick and twisted himself around to deliver a knee to Alan's jaw that could have dislocated it if he was human, but was only capable of potentially knocking a vampire off his feet. "I've been at this for twenty years. How about a little effort?"
Alan fell backwards with a gasp of surprise.
"Well we're not specially trained soldiers like you."
Alex said with a glare at Jace.
"Which is why I'm not taking you on one at a time. But don't worry,"
Jace gave a proud grin, "you will be when I'm done with you. Both of you."
"Good to know."
Alex said with a smirk as he came at Jace again.
Alan jumped back up and also tried to attack Jace.
*Clap,Clap* "Oh boys! The dinner bell went off a half hour ago." Betty said she clearly had just been passing by and noticed them.
Grabbing the arm closest to him--in this case, Alan's--
Jace used the recruit's momentum to swing him around and make him collide with Alex. "You heard her, pups. Pick yourselves up an' go wash up."
Alan made a little squealing noise as he collided with Alex knocking them both to the ground.
"Ow!"
Alex said rubbing his head as Alan scurried away from him and quickly got up.
"Y-You ok?"
Alan asked as he helped Alex up off the floor.
"Yeah, thanks."
Alex said with a smile.
"Pick up the pace, pups. At this rate, there'll be nothing left but turkey-neck gravy and that pickled eel that Mattie keeps trying to get rid of."
Jace made a face of absolute disgust.
Alex and Alan gave each other a look before hurrying off to 'wash up' as Jace put it.
"Where'd the trainees go?"
David asked walking up.
"Cleaning up for lunch."
Jace replied off-handedly. "How'd it go?"
"Everything is taken care of."
David said with a smile.
"Perfect."
Jace grinned.
"Everything will be in their room."
David added.
Alex poked his head into the room, "Uh, we washed up... Now what?"
"Right."
Jace started walking towards one of the dining halls. "I think the south kitchen is serving that pumpkin stew, right?" He looked to David for confirmation.
"Yeah.....and there's always Matties pickled..Eel."
David gagged a little when he said pickled eel.
"Uh...yeah... Let's go see what's in the north kitchen, first."
Jace turned back to Alan and Alex. "If either of you pups got a sweet tooth, you'll love the north kitchen's cook. Last week, Edda made this blackberry custard that was gone in about five minutes once people got wind of it."
"That sounds way better than pickled eel."
Alex said with a disgusted look on his face.
"Yeah, pickled eel doesn't sound very appetizing."
Alan agreed with the same disgusted look.
"Well lets pick up the speed!"
David said taking off.
Alan and Alex nodded as they followed David.
Jace followed at a steady pace so he was never more than a few feet behind the three charges.
There wasn't very many people at the dining room.
"Looks like we got here in time."
David said with a goofy smile.
"Go take your pick then, pups."
Jace addressed all three of them. "They usually have at least two entree's per kitchen and about five different sides. Just ask Edda for chef's choice."
Alex nodded, "Alright, come on." He said pulling Alan along.
"Yo Edda what's for dinner?"
David asked grabbing and passing out the trays.
"Oh umm..FOR THE ENTREE"S WE HAVE..." David cut in, "Edda...normal tone." "...Oh sorry we have Stuffed mushroom, or Caesar salad... And for dinner we have Lamb chops... Snow Crab, glazed duck, and potato bacon chowder... Oh I nearly forgot the sides! Um we have Jumbo shrimp, steamed veggies, stuffed potatoes... coconut shrimp....Cheese sticks... & fresh made chips with spinach cheese dip..... And desert is SIN CAKE!" She ended with a shy smile.
"All of that sounds delicious, it makes it hard to choose."
Alex said with a smile as Alan just nodded in agreement.
"Just the mushrooms and chowder for me, Edda."
Jace said as he grabbed the tray, scratching his arm absently at the thought of all that seafood.
"Okay." Edda replied getting it for him. "You guys came just in time...everythings fresh!" She giggled a bit look at everyone. "You guys really need to eat up if your training with Jace!" She said to Alex & Alan.
Jace thanked Edda and immediately took his loaded tray to the emptiest table in the room, which quickly became even emptier at the sight of his scowl.
Alex thought for a moment, "May I have the lamb chops and mushrooms please."
"Um, just the Caesar salad please."
Alan said with a shy smile.
"Snow crab with the salad pleeease."
David said with a wide smile.
"Okay...DAVID! I've told you that smile..is creepy!" Edda said handing them there food but giving David a harsh look.
Alex chuckled as he walked over to the table where Jace was sitting and sat down.
"Thank you Edda."
Alan said with a smile before following Alex over to the table.
Jace shoved a mushroom into his mouth and grunted an acknowledgemen
t to the two as they sat down.
Alex raised a brow, "You alright there?"
Jace wordlessly jerked a thumb at the only three people left at the other end of the table. Said people promptly moved to another table on the far end of the room.
"Hahaha your always great at clearing a room!" David laughed clearly meaning it as a tease.
Alex smirked and rolled his eyes as he ate a lamb chop.
"Is that really a good thing?" Alan questioned.
"Sometimes..." Jace replied. "You're both strong." He glanced from Alex to Alan. "That can be a good thing or a bad thing here."
"People well be people...they'll decide if your're good or bad even if they don't mean too." David said sadly as he ate some crab.
A thought suddenly crossed Jace's mind. Alex was not just a werewolf. He was a brother of his. A brother that he found in District Twelve. Suddenly even more wary of the soldiers seated at the surrounding tables, Jace gave David a worried look, glancing to Alex momentarily to illustrate his concerns.
Alex was too busy talking to Alan to notice Jace's glance.
"It's to late to worry about that." David whispered.
"But what if someone finds out?" Jace murmured gruffly. "He's a good kid..."
David looked down bofore looking back at him....he didn't have to say anything it was clear someone already found out.
"Who was it?" Jace growled, forgetting for a moment to not let the other two hear him.
"I don't know...Some people...who are being punished listened into a meeting the higher ups where having." David said in a tone slightly higher then a whisper.
Alex and Alan who had been talking looked over at Jace when they heard him growl, "Uh, you ok?" Alex asked curiously.
Jace exchanged glances with David before addressing Alex. "Remember what I told you, pup. If people start asking questions, you don't have to tell them anything."
"Yeah I remember, why?" Alex asked curiously as he raised a brow.
"*Sigh* Well some people here don't trust your family, or the place you came from so....uh..be careful what you say." David tried to finish.
"Oh, I get it. I'll be careful." Alex said with a nod.
Jace grunted then turned to Alan. "And you're gonna keep your mouth shut. Right?"
"Y-Yes sir." Alan said as he fell out of his seat with a tiny 'meep'.
"Great...I ate all my food to fast." David complained.
"And who's fault is that?" Alex asked with a chuckle.
Alan blushed brightly as he got to his feet and sat back down.
R"Yours. For worrying me." David murmured.
Jace pinched David's cheek as he stood to get everyone a slice of Sin cake. "Nobody's allergic to chocolate, right?"
"Nope." Alex said with a smile.
"I'm not." Alan said.
Jace gave them a quick grin before making his way back to Edda's counter. "Any chance you've still gotta few slices of cake?"
"Of course!" She replied handing him fives slices then whispering. "You can put the extra one in your fridge."
"Thanks, Edda." Jace walked back to the table and set down the tray with five plates.
"Wow, they look awesome." Alex said with a smile as he eyed the cakes.
"Yeah, they do." Alan said with a nod.
Jace raised an eyebrow. "Then what are you two doing just staring at 'em?" He picked up a plate and shoveled a bite into his mouth. "Sounds like a waste of cake to me..."
Alex nodded, "You're right." He said taking a slice and eating it happily.
Alan took a slice himself and took a bite smiling happily, "It's delicious."
David grabbed a cake piece, it almost seemed that his eyes dazzled a bit.
Jace noticed the dazzle and knew what it meant right away. "Take it slow, pup." He warned as he carved about a third of the slice off David's plate and plopped half of it each on the other two's plates.
Alan blinked, "Uh, is he not supposed to have sugar or something?"
"No." Jace answered flatly.
"I..I can have sugar!...just in small amounts..." David whimpered.
"Pup almost shot his foot off and wrestled one of the lab workers into a headlock last time I let him finish a desert." Jace recalled with a less than amused expression.
"R-Really?" Alan said as his eyes went wide as he stared at David.
"Jeez, someone has issues." Alex said with a chuckle.
David slowly turned his head to Alex. "What was that?" He asked with a insane look in his eyes as he took a bite of a cake.
Alan squealed in fright at David's look as he dove under the table.
"I've lived with a single mother who has to work two jobs and has two boys for three years, you don't scare me." Alex said as he chuckled at Alan.
"Don't worry, he's only at half-dose." Jace mentioned non-chalantly as he took an ice-cube out of his glass and dropped it out the back of David's shirt to sober him up a little.
"Ahhhh that FELT GREAT dooo it again....hehe" David said smiling before jumping up and running out the door.
Jace gave a long-suffering sigh before standing from the table. "C'mon, Edda'll make sure our cake doesn't get taken." And with that he started to chase after David to make sure he didn't get in too much trouble.
Alex chuckled as he grabbed Alan and pulled him out from under the table following Jace.
Anabell/Loki:
Loki let out a sigh of relief once the car stopped and they had arrived at his uncle's facility.
We'll take care of everything you just head to your room.
Loki nodded, grabbed his bag, got out of the car with Snowball and went inside.
Plenty of people walking around like normal, all heading from or to a kitchen.
Loki kept his eyes in front of him as he walked quickly towards his room, which was kept for him in case he visited.
"Hey kitten ya lost?" Some guy asked from behind.
Loki turned around with Snowball in his arms, "N-No, I know where I'm going."
"Oh do ya? Well the pet area is that way!" The guy said jerking his thumb toward the first East hall.
"I know that, I'm not going to the pet area." Loki said as his ears fell back and his tail curled around him because he was a bit scared.
"You shouldn't be here... Scat cat!!" The man chuckled.
Loki took a step back as Snowball hissed angrily at the man and swatted at his hand.
"Hmm figures..you need a cat to protect you kitten." The man said stepping forward.
"L-Leave me alone!" Loki said as he backed up even more and Snowball hissed again, his eyes turning dangerously red.
"AAAAND TACKLE!!" Someone called before tackling the man to the floor and twisting the arm behind the man back.
"DAVID! Let him go!" Jace snarled as he ran into the hallway and glared at the teenager that tackled the soldier.
David slowly got off eyes beginning to water as if he was going to cry. "Bu..But I did good..." He said beginning to actually cry.
Jace's eye twitched. "Took me three months to teach him how to tackle right, and this is what it gets me..." He muttered under his breath.
Loki blinked in surprise at the commotion, "Th-Thank you." He said putting Snowball down as he knelt next to David and hugged him.
Alex and Alan came around the corner, but stopped when they saw David on the ground crying, "What happened?" Alex asked.
"He tackled somebody and got all weepy when I yelled at him." Jace relayed with a dismissive wave. "It happens." He glanced at the werecat hugging his oldest charge. "And you are?"
"I'm Loki, I had to come here from the east facility because someone planted bombs there." Loki said, he winched when Snowball scratched him. "And this is my cat Snowball."
"Wimp." Alex said under his breath.
"*sniff,sniff* I did good." David told himself. "Mommy you need to apologize." David said wipping his tears.
"What the H*** did he tackle me for!"The man said holding his nose.
"Loki? Ana's cousin?" Jace's expression softened for a moment before he scowled at David. "For the last time, I'm not your mother, I'm your supervising officer!"
"Yeah, I'm Ana's cousin." Loki said raising an eyebrow. 'Did he just call him mommy?'
"Mommy?!" Alex said as he burst into laughter at David's words.
"Follow me, then." Jace told Loki as he ignored Alex's laughter. He picked up David and slung him over his shoulder like a bag of feed before walking down the hall to Anabell's dad's office. "...Heaven forbid ya ever get drunk, pup."
"I'd like that too." David said waving at Alan, Loki and Alex.
Loki picked Snowball back up off the floor before following Jace, he smiled and waved back at David.
Alex continued to chuckle as he followed Jace.
Alan sighed, 'What have I gotten into?' He thought as he too followed them.
Once they reached the office door, Jace knocked, keeping as professional an expression and air one can while having a hyper nineteen-year-old slung over their shoulder.
"Come in." Anna's father replied.
"Daddy... hehehehahaha!!" David said as soon as he heard Ana's dad's voice.
Loki giggled as he looked at David.
Alex tried to stifle his laughter at David's behavior.
Jace walked into the office and promptly dropped David into a chair in front of the desk. "Your nephew is here, sir."
"Hi uncle." Loki said entering the office and waving at his uncle.
"Hello Loki,....No one told me you where coming." He said giving a hug but clearly confused with the sudden visit.
"It was a bit last minute, someone planted bombs in the east facility so we had to get out fast, there wasn't time to call." Loki said hugging his uncle.
"What?! I'll send some of my men to help..... Do you have any idea who did it?"
"No, the soldiers just got me out, we had to be quiet cause they thought the person still might be inside." Loki said as Snowball meowed.
"I see." He quickly called some soldiers in, and filled them in. "Right we'll take care of it sir!"
Loki looked at Snowball as he meowed again, "That's right, I didn't feed you yet, sorry."
"What the kitty wants to eat someone!!" David said jumping up and looking at the cat.
"No, he eats raw fish a lot, but I also give him cat food. I had to leave in a hurry so he didn't get his breakfast." Loki said.
"Plenty of seafood in the north dining room today." Jace said as he pushed David back into the chair. "Sorry about this" he gestured to David "Commander. Turns out the Sin cake had more sugar in it than I thought..."
Quite alright. You should go feed Snowball, we can talk later.
"Alright Uncle." Loki said with a smile as he left the office and headed for the North dining hall.
Jace looked down at David and groaned a little. "C'mon pups. Help me get this one out of the Commander's office. Once again, sorry about that, sir!"
"Anything for you mommy..." David replied getting up and smiling at everyone.
Alex chuckled, "Sure thing." He said taking David's wrist. "Come on, let's follow Loki to make sure no more bad people pick on him."
"Once again," Jace said as he pulled David to his feet with one sharp tug, "I'm not your mother." He nodded to Alex. "Yeah. That's probably a good idea."
"Y-Yeah, I mean he doesn't look like he likes fighting much." Alan said with a nod.
"Then let's get going. Move, pup." Jace began pushing David out of the room. "Thank you for your time, Commander!"
"Of course...make sure Edda didn't slip any wine or such in the cake."
"I want to feed the kitty..." David said picking up the speed.
"Yeah, well keep moving or ya won't get a chance to feed the kitty." Jace said, hoping the motivation would be enough for them to catch up with Loki before he ran into anyone else.
Alex chuckled, "Maybe we should ask Edda if she spiked the cake with alcohol."
"Do you think?" Alan asked a little worried.
"Why didn't the ice cube work?" Jace muttered to himself, only half-way paying attention to Alex and Alan. "The ice cubes always freakin' work..."
"Hehaha...I'm immune to you ice spell.." David said. "My head hurts."
"Maybe there was alcohol in it, or he's on a sugar crash..." Alex said at David's words.
Loki was just entering the North dining hall in front of them.
"Hey, Loki." Jace said, making sure not to spook him. "You doing ok, pup?"
Loki turned to Jace, "Oh, yeah. I was just about to go in and get some food for Snowball."
"Well David wants to feed him." Alex said with a chuckle.
"Really?" Loki said looking at David.
Alan was looking at David kind of concerned.
"Eh, it's sorta fifty-fifty. In this state, he also thinks I'm his mom, so..." Jace shrugged.
David's eyes started to tear. "Mommy di..did you and daddy get a divorce?!"
Jace's eye twitched. "THAT'S IT!!! I'm taking you to an AA meeting for your 21st birthday!"
"Daddy? Who's daddy?" Alan said sounding totally confused.
'Daddy? Is he talking about one of them?' Loki thought looking at Alan and Alex curiously.
"What's he on about now?" Alex asked hearing the word 'daddy'.I
"He does that sometimes." Jace groaned. "Pup gets all hyped up on sugar an' starts talking like he got his people scrambled up. Pretty sure he means Ana's dad, though..." He looked to Loki. "You're uncle, that is. He's probably upset that we left his office."
"I'M A GOOD SON!" David yelled then waved at everyone.
Jace sighed and patted David on the head. "Yeah. You sure are, but ya need to sober up, now. 'Kay?"
Jace could feel his back get a little wet, everyone else could tell David had fallen asleep and is now drooling a little.
Alex chuckled, "Looks like David loves his mommy."
"Oh dear." Alan said trying to lift David off of Jace.
Loki couldn't help but snicker a little.
"Well I guess asking him anything would be pointless right now." Jace said as he manuevered David into a nearby chair. "Maybe he just needs to sleep it off?"
"I guess we'll find out." Alex said still chuckling.
Alan sighed, "I hope that's all he needs is sleep."
"Alright, I'm going." Loki said walking into the dining hall as Snowball meowed hungrily.
"You pups go ahead." Jace waved them along without taking his eyes off of David. "And ask Edda what was in that cake."
"Alright." Alex said with a nod as he followed Loki into the dining hall.
Alan hesitated for a moment before following.
Loki walked up to Edda with an empty tray, "H-Hello."
"Hello, how my I help you today?" Edda asked shyly.
"I heard you had some seafood, what kind?" <b>Loki asked politely.
"Hey Edda, what was in that cake you gave us?" Alex asked from beside Loki.
"Oh..uh we have jumbo & shrimp snow crab......Oh NO WAS THERE TO MUCH SUGAR AGAIN....Oh no I'm sorry...I'll do any thing you request!"
"Yeah, David went a little... Nuts, he keeps calling Jace mommy and he just passed out in the hall." Alex said.
"But he did save me from that man." Loki said trying to not make Edda feel bad. "Oh, may I have some shrimp please."
"Uh okay here you go." Edda said placing the Jumbo shrimp on his tray. "I..I'm really s..sorry."
"It's ok, I'll just go inform Jace why David's acting so weird. Alan, stay with Loki." Alex said walking back to tell Jace.
Alan nodded and followed Loki to a table where Loki sat down and began feeding Snowball shrimp.
"Ahh Edda is super good I'm glad she helped us with the cake!" The clerk twin declared sitting at a table near by.
"Excuse me." Alan said to the twins.
Alex went back into the hall, "Hey Jace, Edda said she just put too much sugar in it."
Snowball meowed happily as he ate the shrimp Loki gave him.
"What do you need Alan?" Meko asked.
Jace was leaned against the wall beside David and watching him with concerned eyes when Alex walked up. "Right. In that case, he'll be back to normal in 'bout an hour. If not less, from all that running and sleeping..."
"Well that cake you guys and Edda made had too much sugar and David kind of went... Nuts." Alan said.
"That's good then, will he remember anything?" Alex asked curiously.
Loki's tail flicked slightly as he watched Snowball attack a shrimp and play with it before eating it, "Don't play with your food."
"He'll probably remember being moved around and maybe a face or two." Jace shrugged. "But for the most part, no."
"Huh but he wasn't supposed to have any yet....I know I shouldn't of just let him know where the cake would be!!" Maniko complained.
"Yeah, Jace didn't know it would have that much in it." Alan said nervously.
Loki looked over at the twins and waved as his tail flicked back and fourth.
"Then he won't remember calling you mommy?" Alex asked.
Jace sighed. "He usually doesn't, and I don't see why now would be any different."
"Where is he I need to beet the crap out of em!"Maniko declared getting up."Maniko please stop maybe it was a diffrent cake!"
Alan blinked totally confused, "What do you mean a different cake?"
"So you never tease him about it?" Alex asked curiously.
Maniko sat back down."Your not talking about the birthday cake?" Meko and Maniko asked. "WE SHOULD"VE READ HIS MIND!" Meko then said.
"Birthday cake?" Alan repeated even more confused.
"We didn't help her make the Sin cake." Meko said covering Maniko's mouth.
"Oh, well that's what I was talking about." Alan said still slightly confused.
"Hi." Loki said with a smile as he walked closer to the twins with Snowball in his arms.
Jace scowled. "Nah. Doesn't seem to be much point to." He shrugged, giving David another concerned glance.
David twiched in his sleep then rolled over.
"Hi Loki!" Meko replied still covering Maniko's mouth. "Mmmffmmuf" "Ouch! Okay I'll let go!" Meko said letting go and looking at a bite mark.
"Oh, are you alright?" Loki asked going over to Meko.
"That sounded like it hurt." Alan said.
"I guess." Alex said looking at David.
Jace frowned at David's new position and moved his arm to prop him up from falling out of the chair, muttering the entire time. "Pup's gonna fall over and get brain damage..."
"I'm okay." Meko said. "I've told a thousand times don't cover my mouth!"
Alex chuckled, "You care about him don't you?"
"You sure, did she break the skin?" Loki asked.
Jace froze. "I'm his supervising officer. Until he graduates, everything he does and anything that happens to him is on my head." He snarled softly.
"Umm it isn't bleeding don't worry." Meko replied smiling. "Um I'm sorry Meko...IT IS TO BLEEDING!" Maniko said pull the hand up. "Oh so it."
Loki sat Snowball on the table, took Meko's hand in his and healed it.
Alan watched Loki heal Meko's hand in awe, "Wow."
'He's such a liar.' Alex thought as he chuckled, "Whatever you say."
Jace gave Alex a short glare before returning to watching David like a hawk.
"Thanks Loki." Meko replied face a little red.
"You're welcome." Loki said with a smile.
"That was cool." Alan said still in awe.
Alex chuckled, "It's ok if you do care, I won't tell a soul."
Jace glanced at Alex out of the corner of his eye, but his expression was softer this time. "...Anything else, pup?"
"I'm awake!" David said jumping to his feet. "Huh? What are we doing here? Where is everyone else?"
"Oh...Um Loki...Chasa went on a mission recently...but we haven't heard anything since and....the last thing we heard was that they where under attack." Meko said sadly.
Alex was slightly surprised at Jace's expression, but he smiled when he turned to David, "You got high on sugar, everyone else is in the dining hall."
"What? That's horrible." Loki said.
"Who's Chasa?" Alan asked curiously.
"'Bout time ya woke up, pup. Ana's cousin is staying over for a while, so why doncha go say 'hello' before he thinks all you do is tackle people and sleep." Jace jerked a thumb in the direction of the dining room door.
"Huh? Sweet I can tackle people in my sleep! Wait ya I think I remember some black haired kid saying he was Loki." David replied heading into the dinning room.
"She is probably the best healer in this Facility. There is still a chance that she is okay." Maniko said encouragingly.
"I hope so." Loki said as Snowball meowed and placed a paw on his hand.
"If she's the best then she's bound to be ok." Alan said with a smile.
"It's not exactly the first time you tackled someone on a sugar-rush." Jace reminded David as they walked. "Remember that green-haired girl down in the labs? You're just lucky you didn't break anything expensive this time."
"Hehaha Oh yeah. Hey guys I'm back!" David called to Alan and Loki.
"Right. Oh welcome back David." Maniko and Meko replied.
"Oh, glad you're awake." Alan said smiling.
"Are you feeling ok?" Loki asked as he turned towards David.
Alex smiled as he sat down.
"Uh sorry I dont really remember anything sorry. Um you're Ana's cousin Loki right?" David asked his face slightly red.
Jace stood next to David, still keeping a wary eye on him before introducing himself to Loki. "My name's Jace. This pup's David. Alex. Alan." He gestured to each of them in turn. "Those two are new here, but David an' I heard about you from Ana."
"Yes, that's right. It's nice to meet you David, Jace, Alex and Alan." Loki said with a smile as Snowball meowed.
"It's nice to meet you too Loki." Alan said with a smile.
"Yeah, I like your cat." Alex said, he smiled as Snowball meowed.
"Uhhh Kitta!" David exclaimed going over to pat Snowball.
Jace's eye twitched. "Even with most of the sugar burned out of his system..." He muttered under his breath.
Snowball sniffed David's hand before rubbing up against it, "Looks like he likes you." Loki said smiling.
Alex chuckled, 'He's like a little kid.'
"Hehe Hey kitty, you such a good looking kitty." David said to Snowball. (The look on his face is much like his picture shows.)
Snowball began to purr as he rubbed up against David's hand making Loki smile.
Alan smiled, "That's so cute."
Alex looked at Alan and chuckled.
Jace watched David and Snowball with an amused expression, scratching his arm a little from time to time.
"Are you okay Jace?" Meko asked worried a little.
"I'm fine." Jace said disinterestedly. "Just a seafood allergy..."
"You're allergic to seafood?" Alex asked blinking.
"Then why don't you leave, won't that help?" Alan asked.
Snowball nipped David's hand gently.
"Haha.....I'm sorry... my eating that crab probably wasn't good..Want me to wait outside with you?" David asked still patting Snowball.
"Wouldn't that make it worse?" Alan asked.
Snowball bit David lightly.
"Good news, Lover boy, Annabell's back!" Maniko said to Jace coming back from Edda. "Oh and here's your cake leftovers,"
Apparently the "Lover boy" comment went straight over Jace's head, since the moment he heard Anabell's name, the werewolf headed straight for the hallway to find her. He was half-way out the door when he called back: "I'll go let her know Loki's here!"
"Lover boy?" Alex repeated with a curious look.
"So he likes Annabell?" Alan said.
"He just used me as an excuse to see her didn't he?" Loki asked.
"Yep." David's face changed to a mischievous smile. "Hey, what has Anna said about him?"
"What?" Loki said looking at David.
Alex chuckled at David.
Snowball licked David's hand.
"Oh yeah I had crab. Didn't Anna say anything about us?" David asked pull out a wet wipe from his coat.
"Well she did say some things, like how fun you are and how goofy Jace can be and how funny you both are. Oh, and how Jace is always helping her out and how he can be annoying sometimes like when he carried her because it snowed." Loki said.
"I Knew it! She did talk about him! Hehehe love bird." David sang.
"What?" Loki said confused.
"hehehe Oh it's just completely clear that Jace has a thing for Anna and Anna has a soft spot for Jace."David stated matter-of-factly.
"Really? You think so?" Loki asked curiously.
"LOKI!!" Annabell exclaimed running over and hugging him. "Are you okay, you're not hurt any where are you?" She asked looking him over.
"No, I'm fine Anna." Loki said as he hugged Annabell back.
"So you're Annabell?" Alex said looking at her. 'She is rather pretty.'
"Hello again Miss Annabell." Alan said with a smile.
"I'm so glad your okay!" Anna said still holding him then looked over at Alex and Alan. "Nice seeing you Alan hope you're having a good day. Yes I'm Anna your probably Alex right?"
"Yeah I'm Alex." Alex said with a nod.
"Yeah, but I don't know about anyone else, I hope they're ok too." Loki said worriedly as Snowball came over and placed his paws on Loki's leg as he meowed.
"Snowballs right... They'll be alright, my father has already sent some men to help and I've got a few questions for you Alex." Anna said.
Alex blinked, "Questions for me, what kind of questions?"
"Actually they're statements; first off, even after training you have to spend at least five days with Jace unless your on a mission, second, try to make friends, third, don't date a team mate, and don't tell anyone your family line." Anna said.
"Oh, uh... Alright then." Alex said slightly confused about every thing except not mentioning his family line.
Alan raised a brow, he was wondering if Anna was going to tell him any of those things as well.
"Why can't he say anything about his family life?" Loki asked curiously.
"Lets just say...the government hasn't had good run ins with the Thorn family." Anna replied quietly.
"Oh, that's awful! They'd persecute them just because of their family name?" Loki said looking sad.
"Don't be sad Loki, it's fine." Alex said trying to make him feel better, but it only made things worse.
"It's not fine, it's cruel!" Loki said as tears began to well up in his eyes.
Alan blinked, 'He's rather sensitive, guess he's just a really kind person.' He thought.
"Loki, Calm down. This goes for all of you, most people here are pretty nice so try not to go around distrusting everyone." Anna said.
"Don't cry Loki." Alex said hugging him to try and calm him down.
Loki sniffled slightly as he hugged Alex back, his tail wrapping around both of them.
Alan smiled as Loki seemed to calm down a little.
"I'M SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO MAKE YOU UPSET, I WONT DO IT AGAIN!!" Anna said hugging Loki.
"I-It's ok." Loki said hugging Anna too.
"Feel better?" Alex asked with a smile.
Loki nodded, "Yeah."
"Come on we should get you back to your room." David said snickering.
"Yeah." Loki said letting go of Anna and Alex and wiping his eyes on his sleeve.
Alex smiled, "I'm glad you're ok."
"Want to stay in my room tonight Loki?" Anna asked.
"Anna your in your twenties he is in his teens, your a girl, he is a BOY!" David stated.
"But we're cousins, so it's not really weird." Loki said as he picked up Snowball.
"Yeah, it should be fine since they're related. Right?" Alan said.
"Yeah, I don't think Anna's into incest." Alex said.
"Yeah, lighten up a little, Loki and I do it all the time." Anna add.
"Me? Lighten up?!.......fine I give up!..but you shouldn't be the one saying lighten up." David said walking towards the door.
"What's with him?" Loki asked as he watched David leave.
"Maybe he's one of those guys who thinks a guy and girl sleeping in the same room is inappropriate unless they're married even if they are related." Alan said as he watched him leave.
Alex just shrugged not know what was wrong with David.
"Yeah he gets kinda odd when family is brought up." Anna said.
"Really? Why?" Loki asked curiously as he looked at Anna.
"Does he not have any family?" Alex asked curiously.
"Or did he lose them?" Alan asked.
"He doesn't know....his earliest memory is of Jace and I unburying him."Anna replied walking with them.
Yue:
"I got those samples done, Betty!" Yue cheered as she walked into the clinic. "Turns out vampire blood has a lower average white blood cell count than werecreatures. You'd think it'd be the other way around..."
"Hmmm that is very interesting.....Hugs for being an awsome little scientist!!" Betty said hugging her and looking further at the results.
Yue grinned and hugged Betty back before pulling away. "I heard some new recruits came in? Does that mean you have some more samples for me to examine?"
"Here ya go....You know the one is pretty cute." She said handing her the blood samples. "Betty we have four more coming in soon." Annabell's voice come from (something close to a cellphone). "Copy that Annie."
Yue chuckled a little at Betty's antics. "It sounds like you'll have a little more work for me, soon."
"Ha yes it does. So tell me what do you think of Jace & Annabell?" Betty asked tidying up her clinic.
"Do you mean individually, or as superior officers, or in combat, or..." Yue paused her rambling and raised an eyebrow at Betty.
Betty laughed a bit. "You should know I usually mean as individuals."
"Well... You know I barely hear anything down in the lab..." Yue began, "But whenever I come aboveground people are always whispering about one or the other." She frowned. "I've only met Jace once or twice, so all I can say is he's kinda tense. Anabell is nice enough though."
Betty laughed. "You should see him with Annie...Here I got some pictures!" She said handing them to her. "It is sad though...how many people dont turst or like Jace."
Yue examined all the pictures with interest. "Whoa...did he seriously carry her just because there was snow on the ground?!" She sighed. "He seemed a little rough around the edges, but from what I can tell, he doesn't seem so much like a ladder-climber."
Betty smiled. "He did carry her!...It is nothing like that..You can she what he is really like by putting him in a room with David and Annabell. He is no ladder climber."
Yue nodded as she handed the pictures back to Betty. "It does seem ridiculous. I heard that Jace once got reprimanded because he let his paperwork pile up and it was a fire hazard. From what I understand, most of the positions above him require more paperwork than anything else, and he seems rather rough-and-tumble for such a thing." Yue paused before glancing at Betty suspiciously. "How did you get those pictures, anyways?"
"Oh uh..I have pictures of all my children!"
"I thought your kids lived in District Nineteen and Four?" Yue raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding what Betty meant.
"My family is much bigger then that! Your part of it!" Betty said happily.
Yue blinked. "Really? I didn't know we were related."
"Dear the are some people that dont have to be blood related to be family."
Yue blinked again before the confusion cleared from her eyes. "Oh..."
Betty laughed a little. "Have you had any thing to eat yet?"
"Oh, I ate a plate of Edda's raspberry waffles before work, so no worries." Yue's stomach let out a loud rumble, protesting that Yue lost track of time again and it is well past breakfast.
"Sweety..it's 10pm..I have some food in the refridge."
"Oh..." Yue's face darkened a little in embarrassment before her grin brightened it up again. "Thank you!"
"Your welcome. Don't forget to sleep like last time." Betty said.
"Heh. Right..." Yue chuckled softly as she took a container of broccali alfredo out of the fridge.
A soldier came in. "We need this blood tested. It came from a Zombie that has been...acting odd."
Yue put the unopened pasta on the counter. "Odd? How so?"
"This is how...this blood is..pretty fresh, they have started bleeding again and heal fast...Heck they heal!" The soldier said clearly a bit freaked out.
Yue held her hand out to take the blood. "I'll get started on it right away."
"Alright." The soldier handed over the blood sample. "Eat as you work then." Betty said.
Yue grimaced. "I examine bodily fluids, Betty! Often with highly volitile chemicals. Having food in the lab would compromise any tests I run!" She headed towards the clinic door. "It'll only take an hour, at most."
"I just want you to eat!" Betty said giving her a look.
Yue ignored the look and walked out the door. "Talk to you later, Betty!"
William/Dean/Jack/& Yuki:
"Well here we are. Welcome To the facility!" Annabell said stated in a much happier tone then she had earlier.
'Good lord! Now I know why she wanted me to hold on to Yuki, she's a maniac driver!' Jack thought to himself.
Will gets out and looks around.“Lets get this over with,”Will said with a somber face. 'Dean I am so sorry I left you behind that day.' thought Will as he walked to the door.
Sam gets out and looks at his dad. “Aunt Raven, whats wrong with my dad?” Sam asked his aunt.
"He really wants to make things right with Dean...but we dont know if we can."Raven replied.
"Th..that..was sca..scary." Yuki said shaking as he climbed out.
"I'll say." Jack said as he got out after Yuki. "Are you ok Yuki?"
"I'm okay." Yuki replied.
"COME ON YA BIG BABIES!!" Anna called. "Lets get a move on!"
"Good, well let's go." Jack said smiling as he took Yuki's hand and followed Anna.
Will hears Sam`s question to Raven and cheers up some. “Sam, don`t worry about me and Dean. I handle him when the time comes.” Will said to Sam. “Besides I have to look after you don`t I.”
“I guess your right dad,” Sam said smiling. “So Annabell, where do we go from here?”
"To the clinic...then the to see the clerk twins *sigh* I wasn't expecting to pick up people...but hey Fate is fate." Annabell replied.
“I`ll go first at the clinic then.” Will said as he walked beside Annabell. “Besides its not like I`ve been in this situation before.”
“I guess I`ll go second unless Jack or Yuki wants second.” Sam said as he walked.
"Doesn't matter to me, Yuki?" Jack said looking at Yuki.
"Huh? Betty want to see ya'all...I MEAN Um you all at the same time....she says it's more fun that way." Annabell said hiding her face after the "Ya'all".
"Really, well ok then." Jack said smiling at Annabell.
Annabell lead them to the clinic. "..Betty..you have visitors..." She said as she opened the door.
"Oooh splendid! Come in come in." Betty said waving them in.
Jack came in still holding Yuki's hand.
Will hears the crackle of lightning and glances back at Sam. “Don`t even think about it Sam.” Will said to his son.
“Sorry dad it happens sometimes.” Sam said as he stopped arcing lightning between his fingers.
"Oh right, I'm Jack and this is my little brother Yuki." Jack said remembering to introduce himself.
Will walks into the clinic.“Its nice to meet you Betty,”Will said to Betty. “My name`s Will Blackfire and the kid beside me is my son, Sam Blackfire.”
“Dad, now your embarrassing me.” Sam said as his face got red.
"Betty~ I'm back!" Yue's cheery voice came from the doorway as she walked in with the papers still in front of her face, triple-checking for any notes she missed. "I've got the zombie sample in an overnight test, but the recruits are in pretty good health. There's not much to note about the vampire, but the werewolf's DNA check brought up something interesting~" She finally looked up with a grin, only to balk a little at the amount of people in the clinic. "Oh... Is this a bad time?"
"Oh please have a seat." Betty said to the boys, then turned to Yue. "What is ohhh I knew there was something interesting about him!"
Jack sat down with Yuki.
"I could come back later, if you're too busy..." Yue seemed a little unsure, she usually only barged in if Betty had two or less patients.
Anna turned to her. "Your fine..What is it?"
Will sits down and watches Sam start arcing lightning between his fingers again.
Sam starts smirking as he sends a low voltage lightning bolt to his aunt.
Jack looked over at Yue.
"Turns out a certain combat specialist we know shares paternal genes with the recruit~ What's more, I can guaruntee he's a pure-bred werewolf. Third generation on his father's side, of course." Yue rolled her eyes with a grin as she continued babbling. "His diet could have been better and he wasn't in the most hygenic environment--but who ever is, nowadays?--but overall, no malnutrition or diseases. He even shares quite a few strong genetic traits with aforementioned soldier that could prove quite useful if he could hone them just right~" At this point she was practically bouncing in place. "We could have another natural-born super-soldier! No altercations, no experiments, just training and a proper nutritional balance and he'll be jumping over fences and pinning down soul-suckers in just a few years!"
Anna -_- "Yeah...Well guess you can't expect anything less from Jace's family." She then turned to Jack and Yuki. "You guys said you where brothers?"
Yuki looked down for a sec still holding Jack's hand. "Not blood related."
"Yeah, but that doesn't matter to me, we're still brothers." Jack said smiling at Yuki.
Raven hit Sam upside the head lightly. "Knock that off. You should try to look professional." She growled a bit to him.
“Sorry aunt Raven,” Sam said rubbing his head.
'Experiments, now why does that sound familiar?' Will thought to himself as he listened to what everyone was saying.
Yuki gulped. "Pinning down soul-suckers." He repeated holding Jack's hand tighter and bringing Mr. Glares closer to his face.
"Don't worry Yuki, no one will hurt you. If they try, I'll kill them." Jack said.
“Yuki, don`t worry about it ok. As long as me and Jack are around nothing will happen to you,” Will said giving Yuki smile. “And feel free to ask my sister for help with anything, right Raven.”
Yue noticed the child clinging to his teddy bear and looking a bit frightened. "Oh... Did I say something taboo? I'm sorry!"
"It's okay it's just.....I'm a soul-sucker." Yuki stated then smiled at Raven who was now mussing up his hair.
"Oh..." Yue's eyes went wide once it registered just what she said. "I didn't mean it like that! But your kind are really, really strong! I just meant that he'd be able to, and it's really quite a feat. We don't have people attacking each other for no reason!"
"It's okay." Yuki replied giving a under used smile.
“Have you tried combining the traits of both vampires and werewolves before?” Will asked as he looked at Yue.
"Thank you." Yue grinned at Yuki, then turned to Will with a slightly confused look. "Combining traits? Oh! No, I just do blood work, but I've read on it. The only person I've ever experimented on is my own blood cells." Yue chuckled.
“I`m proof that it can and has been done before. How much do you know of the tests ran on werewolves back in the early 21st century?” Will asked.
"When they first started they chose werewolves because they were more in tune with their primal instincts than humans but were more genetically flexible--especially in diet--than vampires and were likely to be more biologically receptive because of it. The government's experiments ended in about 2106 and were picked back up again off and on until about thirty years ago. Occassionally there will be people conducting underground experiments, but overall such things have been declared illegal, immoral and inhumane." Yue recited off the top of her head before the first sentence of what Will said sank in. "Wait. You were experimented on? With vampire genetics?"
Annabell seem to just appear next him and started looking him over. "Hmmm nothing wrong on the outside..." She said to herself still looking him over. "Betty I need you took look him over ASAP."
"Right. Follow me please." Betty turned then to Sam. "Don,'t worry I'll take good care of him, it shouldn't take long."
“I was and the year it happened was 2005.” Will said to Yue. “My son is a second generation hybrid. You can test our blood if you want."
Yue's eyes sparkled with excitement at the idea of examining such a unique bloodline. "Really? Thank you so much! It'd be an honor, sir!"
"Then he goes too." Anna replied.
Will nods and follows Betty. “Raven can you fill them in about Sam please.” Will said as he glanced at his sister.
"Right I'll take care of." Raven replied.
Sam sighs as he follows his dad and Betty.
Yue blinked for a few moments before turning to Raven. "Wait... He just said 2005!"
Raven smiled. "He sure did!" Raven then continued to fill them in on what was going on.
At the end of it, Yue was wide-eyed in astonishment. "That's... He... You..." She shook her head to clear her thoughts before looking back up at Raven with starry eyes and a wide grin. "They've got demon blood in them, too?! I've never even seen a single cell of it!"
Yuki looked a little worried."Umm yes they do...are we going to be able to see them again?
"Yes you will...as long as thing go well that is.Crap here I' am at the facility and I'm still going to miss the kids B-day." Annabell replied.
"Kid's birthday part, who's birthday?" Jack asked curiously.
"Oh my new trainee of mine Alan....I wanted to give a good party...I think will, I PUT THE TWO BEST PEOPLE TO IT!" Annabell replied looking like she won a huge battle at the end.
Jack chuckled, "Well then I'm sure it will be a total blast."
Yue blinked curiously. "The two best... Who would that be? I imagine the twins would be too hyper to actually plan it..."
"No not the twins...Jace and David." Anna said with a true smile.
"Oh..." Yue blinked. "I suppose that makes more sense?" Since she did not know either of them that well, she did not sound entirely sure of herself.
"Are they good at party planing then?" Jack asked curiously.
"Uhh...Well...I think David has seen a few." Anna replied, she didn't seem sure.
Jack chuckled, "Well all you can do is hope for the best at this point."
"I think they can do it." Anna replied she seemed sure now.
"So how old is this recruit turning?" Jack asked curiously.
Will walked back to where Raven and the others were. “Hey Yuki, I'm back.” Will said as he sat down beside Jack and Yuki.
"Welcome back...They didn't do something awful to you did they?"Yuki asked.
"Hehaha They wouldn't of done anything awful to them." Annabell said patting Yuki an the head.
“Nah, I'm still me.” Will said to Yuki and giving him a smile. “Besides, if something did happen to me I could just heal myself up.”
"Betty is a professional." Yue piped up. "Not to mention the most experienced and trusted medical personnel we have. There is absolutely nothing to worry about."
"I'm sure she couldn't really hurt him." Jack said.
"The only thing she'll do to him is, put him up for a date." Anna added
"Okay."Yuki replied staring at Yue.
Yue noticed Yuki's staring and blinked at him. "Is something wrong?"
"You're...not human?" Yuki stated.
"Nope~" Yue chirped. "How'd you tell?"
“I've had plenty of times that I could've died but pulled through, just ask Raven.” Will said as he remembered the fight he had before he fought Dean for the first time.
"What are you then?" Jack asked as he turned towards Yue.
"Alien...I think?" Yue stared off into the distance a bit. "I was born here, but my parents are from... Huh. I don't think anyone ever told me."
"Oh..." Yuki replied to both Will and Yue.
"An alien?" Jack said intrigued.
"Yep. From waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up there." Yue pointed up with a grin. "Seriously, that's the only way my mom ever explained it. I think my dad mentioned something about a volcanic ocean at one point, though..." Yue paused for a moment, looking rather contemplative and a bit confused.
“Ok,” Sam said as he got up and walked back to the others. “Hey guys, what did I miss?"
Will's hand starts shaking slightly as he closes his eye and recalls everything that happened during the fight, from the demons that he had killed to fighting the demon brothers and finally being ran through with his own sword. Will winces a little in pain at the last part as the scar on his chest starts bleeding a little.
"You sure your alri....your bleeding!" Yuki then turned to Yue. "Can you heal it?"
“I'm ok Yuki. Its just a old would I got from fighting 2 demon brothers and being ran through with my own sword,” Will said as he opened his eyes and gave a small smile to Yuki. “I barely survived that fight thanks to Raven.”
Yue frowned slightly. "I might not be much of a physician, but I could at least clean and bind it for you so it doesn't bleed out or get infected..."
“I would like that thank you Yue,” Will said as he took off his jacket and his shirt, revealing numerous scars from fights he had been in.
"Oh... You've been in a lot of battles, haven't you?" Yue remarked hesitantly as she grabbed some gauze, medical tape, and disinfectant from the drawers beside her.
"Whoa." Jack said as he looked at all of Will's scars.
"You don't take things easy do you?"Yuki asked.
“I did what I had to to keep my friends and family safe.” Will said to Yuki. “Most of the scars was caused by hunters trying to kill me and Sam's mom and the rest was caused by a demon that I thought I had killed twice.”
"I'm back...I didn't see that wound earlier! Why didn't you show me it?"
"Whoa, did the demon have some sort of healing powers or something?" Jack asked.
"Oh! Betty! I already have the items needed out, but do you want to take over?" Yue asked, suddenly very nervous about trying to do Betty's job. It just was not what she was used to.
"No dear that's alright, I would love to see you do it." Betty said giving a sweet loving smile.
“Its an old wound that just started acting up again.” Will said to Betty. “I'm just lucky that my sister was close by after it happened otherwise I wouldn't be here. I think the demon knew some other demons that did though.”
"Oh..." Yue twisted the ring around her finger nervously before getting started cleaning Will's wounds. "This might sting a little..."
“I can handle it, I've taken repeated hits from demons throwing lightning orbs before,” Will said as Yue started treating his wounds. “Just don't make Sam mad.”
"I'll keep that in mind." Yue murmured, focusing on treating the wounds.
"Is there any thing you can do, so it want act up again?" Raven asked
"Sorry dear maybe if we got to it sooner."
"Done!" Yue let out a shaky breath as she stepped away from the bandages on Will's back before grinning sheepishly at Betty. "I don't think I did as good a job as you would've, though..."
"Looks good to me." Jack said admiring Yue's handy work.
“I'll be ok sis so don't worry,“ Will said as he put his shirt back on. “I've kept you safe this long and I'm not about to stop now. Thank you Yue.”
“Don't worry aunt Raven I'll watch my dad's back,” Sam said to his aunt. “I waited 18 years to meet him and I'm not about to loose him.”
"You're welcome~" Yue chirped, still twisting her ring nervously.
Jack suddenly looked a bit sad as he looked over at the wall.
"You did wonderful Yue!"
"*sigh* I don't want any depressed soldiers.... What's wrong Jack?" Anna asked.
Yue blinked at Jack, then glanced over at Sam and Will. He seemed to get upset at what Sam said...
Will looks over at Jack. “Is everything ok, Jack?” Will asked looking at him.
"Yeah, it's just... I've never met either of my parents." Jack said not looking at anyone.
Yuki lightly hugged him." Maybe we'll come across them on a mission."
"Not likely, they're dead." Jack said hugging Yuki back.
“I see, well then consider me, Sam, Raven, and Yuki your family.” Will said to Jack.
Jack smiled, "Thanks."
Yue grinned at them all, then shrugged at Betty as if to say: "I guess you were right about non-relatives being family."
Betty smiled at Yue."Well I still have to check Jack and Yuki, so if one of you don't mind sitting down."
“Your welcome.” Will said with a smile.
"I'll go first." Jack said as he looked to Betty.
"Alrighty. "Betty replied, then went over to check his heart beat first.
Jack sat still while Betty checked his heart beat.
Betty smiled. "Okay...BLOOD TIME!" She said pulling out a needle.
Jack eyed the needle nervously.
"Yo, Ana! Are you in here?" Hollered a certain werewolf as he barged in the clinic doors. Jace ran a hand through his hair in a worried motion as his hair lightened to a honey-gold color and his build slimmed down and lengthened in height.
"Oh hey...I got back alot sooner then I thought..and got some new recruits."Anna began rambling.
“Did he just change his appearance?” Will asked confused.
"It's the necklace." Yue whispered to Will, trying not to interupt the conversation.
Jace just stood there, grinning like an idiot while listening to Anabell before he remembered his excuse--er, reason!--for searching for her in the first place. "Oh, yeah! I met your cousin! The East Facility got blown up, so he's gonna stay here for a while."
"Blown up?!" Yue screeched, obviously forgetting to not interrupt.
Jack blinked as a strange scent entered his nose, 'What is that?' He thought as he looked at Jace since he smelt it when he had entered.
Will nods and sits there thinking. 'If this was Dean's doing then he has gone to far this time,' Will thought as he tried to remain calm.
Yuki jumps up then then looks from Jace to Jack. "You... He... Uh never mind."
"What?!" Anna asked then started to run out the door."What...Where is he?!"
"He's feeding his cat in the North Dining Room. Do you want me to come with you, or should I stay and take care of the recruits?" Jace asked.
“What about us, and who is he?” Sam said looking at Annabell and Jace.
Jack blinked at Yuki, "What is it Yuki?"
"Um I have to check on my younger cousin...I hate to ask but Jace?" Anna replied.
"Umm you two smell...alike." Yuki replied staring at this odd scene.
Will looks at Jace and Jack and sniffs the air. “Yuki's right Jack, your scent is the same as his.” Will said to Jack.
Jack looked from Yuki to Will, then to Jace.
Jace deflated a little but had a look of acceptance on his face. "Sure. I'll keep an eye on things here and show them around."
"Oh!" Yue piped up. "Hear that, Jace? You have another brother!"
"What?"
Will gets up and walks over to Jace. “I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Will Blackfire and that's my son standing by the door, Sam Blackfire,” Will said as he held out his hand.
Jace blinked, still processing Yue's outburst. "...Uh, Jace." He finally responded, shaking Will's hand.
“Dad, I think you should let him know about uncle Dean's plans,” Sam said looking at his dad. “And about the demon problem.”
Will glances at Sam and nods. “There is two things that you should be aware of Jace. The first and more pressing matter is that my twin brother has teamed up with someone named Fern to try and take out the government,” Will said to Jace with a serious look on his face. “The second one is the gates to the underworld have started to open and there are demons running around now.”
“Fern?” Jace snapped to attention. “A woman of about 24? Stands ‘bout 5’ 9” with blond hair, brown eyes? Maybe has her scent covered with something sweet-smelling like butterscotch to make other species think of her less like a werewolf and more like just another female? That Fern?”
"Personally, I'd be more concerned about the 'gates to the underworld' bit..." Yue laughed nervously as she twisted her ring around her finger.
“My sister can tell you more about about their plans,” Will said to Jace. “Just know that my brother looks like me, has most of my abilities except he can't shift into a werewolf anymore.”
"So you are a werewolf." Jace confirmed. "I can hardly tell. Your scent is mixed with vampire and...something else..." He frowned, unable to recognize the third scent he detected on the two.
“At one time I was, but that changed in 2005 because of the government. The third scent your smelling is that of a nine-tailed fox demon,” Will said to Jace.
Jace looked thoroughly confused. "2005? *blink blink* Demon?" With a deep exhale, he shrugged his own questions off, figuring that if the details were important, someone would fill them in later. But he did have one thing to say about this development: "You two are filling out your own paperwork, then."
Yuki blinked for a bit watching the three interact. "You guys really are an open book." he said to Will and Sam then turned to Jace. "I'm Yuki....My brother here is Jack..Oh but I guess he's your brother."
"Yeah...I guess..." Jace scratched the back of his head as he gave Jack a curious look. "If he's your brother...I don't think either of you are hybrids and I know you're not a werewolf." He looked down at Yuki. "So, I guess one of you's adopted?"
“Its just who we are I guess,“ Will said to Yuki. “There was a time where I shared my brother's views, but hearing what Raven said about the humans she'd encountered I changed.”
"That sounds like Fern." Raven replied.
"Um only Will and Sam are actually blood related." Yuki replied.
Jace frowned at Raven's confirmation looking back down at Yuki. "...I hope your story is more straight-forward than the others, kid."
Jack looked over at Jace, "Yuki adopted me as his brother just today."
Jace nods at Jack. "That explains why you two smell nothing like each other. Haven't been around each other long enough, I guess?"
"Hey, Betty?" Yue asked quietly, trying not to interrupt. "Do you have all the blood samples for me?"
"Sure do sweetie." Betty replied handing her all the blood samples.
Will walks over to where his jacket was and sets his swords down and sighs.
"No, we just met today." Jack said.
"Hey your going to eat first!" Betty said to Yue.
Yue blinked in surprise before grimacing a little, disappointed that she could not get back to work, yet. "Fine..." She sat up on the counter and crossed her legs at the ankle as she finally opened the container of broccali alfredo that was waiting for her.
A thought suddenly crossed Jace's mind. "Wait, Alex is only about three or four years younger than you," here meaning Jack, "and he had no littermates... Julian never leaves when the kids are that young, so you've got an older sibling or two, right?"
Jack's heart seemed to skip a beat, "A-Alex is here?" He said looking a bit panicky.
Yuki jumped at the sudden panicky Jack. "Huh? Wh..what's wrong?"
Jace's eyebrows furrowed. "Yeah. He's the recruit I picked up earlier. You know him? 'Cause you weren't in that photo he had..."
"He's... He's my little brother, I was kidnapped when he was still a baby so he doesn't know I exist." Jack said not looking at Jace.
Jace's expression softened and he put a hand on Jack's shoulder. "Hey. You two are gonna see eachother at some point, and the smell is usually a dead give-away..." He glanced over at Yue. "But from what I understand, the techies down at the lab have figured out how to cover scents. Even from a werewolf's nose." He looked back at Jack. "So do you want to meet him as your brother, or what?"
"Your choice." Yue mumbled between mouthfuls of pasta.
"Hey what's wrong Will?" Raven asked quietly.
Yuki looked down at Mr. Glares and whispered something very softly to it.
“I'm just thinking of how mom reacted when she first saw me practicing with a sword dad had made,” Will said quietly to Raven. “Maybe she was right, I mean if it wasn't for you that day I wouldn't be here, and who knows what kind of mess Dean would have created.”
"I don't know, do you think he'd want to meet me?" Jack asked looking up at Jace.
"Probably. He's a good kid." Jace gave a wolfish grin before sobering up. "But we'll need to go over some ground rules. For your protection and his."
"Try not to think about so much."Raven. replied.
"THERE ISN'T A PROBABLY!! He will like you Jack." Yuki said with a smile.
"Thanks Yuki, what are the ground rules?" Jack asked curiously.
"You and Alex are brothers. Great. Fine. You can let the whole facility know. But aside from the clerks and higher-ups, nobody needs to know anything else about your family. You don't know who Julian Thorn is, and have no relation to me. Understood?" Jace said as he scanned every face in the room and addressed them all. "I'm not exactly the most popular guy here, so the fact they're my brothers stay in this room. Got it?"
"Got it." Jack said with a nod.
“I'll try not to sis,” Will said giving Raven a small smile before looking at Jace and the others. “It's time for the paperwork isn't it.”
“Understood, Jace,” Sam said looking at Jace.
"Okay." Yuki & Raven said at the same time.
"Glad we all understand eachother." Jace gave his wolfish grin again. "Let's go see if the clerk twins are back from dinner."
Yue finished her meal and hopped down from the counter, scooping up the blood samples. "See you tommorrow morning, Betty!" She glanced at the clock. "Or, uh, later today? I think the clerk twins are going to close up 'til noon in a few minutes..."
Jace scowled at the time. "Good point... Would you all rather we deal with the paperwork then and we find you some rooms now?"
"Rooms." Yuki repeated as if it was something magical from a long forgotten land.
Jack raised a brow at the look on Yuki's face, "When was the last time you slept in a bed Yuki?"
"Six and half years....I think." Yuki stated.
Jace frowned at Yuki's statement. "You all had a long day. We'll worry about the paperwork later."
"Really, that long?" Jack said astonished. "You poor thing." He said picking Yuki up and hugging him.
"Dont worry, Yuki you'll be sleeping in a bed tonight." Sam said.
"I'm...I'm floating." Yuki said blinking and looking at Jack.
"No, I just picked you up." Jack said with a chuckle.
Jace smiled at the sight. "C'mon. Let's get you all into some temporary rooms until we figure everything out." He began to lead the group out of the clinic.
"Uh what about her."Will asked pointing at Betty who had fallen asleep in a chair.
"...I have no clue." Jace said. "Usually she's the first one in the clinic and the last to leave. Most people assume she's got a cot in the back or something..." He scratched the back of his head. "I guess we lock up behind us?"
"Probably." Jack said still holding Yuki.
"We better leave so we don't wake her." Yuki said quietly.
"Got it, pup." Jace grinned wolfishly at Yuki and opened the clinic door, clicking the lock for when they're all out the door.
Jack walked out and smiled, "So what are the rooms like?"
"Now that I think about it, it's been while since I slept in a bed too." Will said walking out with Sam and Raven.
"The recruits and trainees have dorms in the East and West wings. Once they graduate, they get an apartment to themselves in the North wing, but you need an ID for that..." Jace paused to think as he shut the door behind everyone. "The East wing is pretty full, now. So I guess you're all going in the West for now."
"Umm will Jack and I be able to stay togather?" Yuki asked.
Jack smiled at Yuki before glancing at Jace to get the answer.
"Yep. The dorms typically have two beds per room, anyways." Jace ruffled Yuki's hair a little.
A female soldier came up. "Hey Jace, Annabell told me to take care of, a Raven Blackfire?"
Jace nodded to the soldier and turned to Raven. "That's you, right?"
"Yeah see ya guys later." Raven said fallowing the soldier.
"Aunt Raven looks uncomfortable." Sam stated.
"Yeah, but I'm sure she'll be fine." Jack said smiling at Sam.
"Alright," Jace turned to address them once they reached the dorms. "Bedroom doors are brown. If they are open, they are available. The white doors are the bathrooms. This is only until you rest up and the clerks are back on duty, but take your pick."
Yuki pointed to an open door. "That one has a good feel."
"Sam and I will take this one then." Will said going to the room across from Yuki & Jack's.
Jack smiled, "That's ours then." He said still carrying Yuki as he walked to the door Yuki pointed at.
"Noon isn't for another eight hours. Ana or I'll come and get you all then. And if you need anything," Jace knocked on the wall, "just knock."
"Alright." Jack said with a nod and a smile as he carried Yuki into the room.
Yuki gave a thumbs up, he was clearly to tired to respond.
Jace smiled and waved at Yuki before going off to the dining room, again.
