The Vontrotsky family are a Royal family that were where all supernaturals came from. (Think Cornell in underworld two)

This places them responsible for being the over all keeper of the laws set by the Triage, that was formed by Vontrotsky family.

when they began to adapt into new creatures. However, the purest of the Vontrotsky family, those who did not morph into new beings sit on the throne.

Starting from the beginning of time only a female can rule

all males born into the family are unable to bare children.

Also, a family secret untold to society and the triage is that when a Vontrotsky reached the age they are considered an adult ( 16 for girls & 18 for boys) they can choose what Supernatural creature they wish to be.

And Katryna Vontrotsky, our protagonist, has just inherited a war, one that will require all her strength and the ability to forgive.
