The clock tower stands as the highest and most central point on the entire campus. Nearly every inch of the school can be seen up here. The large bell in the center is more than two hundred years old as well as the internal workings of the antique clock. Despite being off limits to thes tudents it's been a comon make out location for decades.
Sacha followed Max to the base of the clock tower. She let her huge bookbag fall to the floor with a loud thud and let out a happy sigh. "So, the zombie apocalypse is finally here, huh?" She asked Max. "Fuckin' took it long enough."
"WHat?"
Max asked "If your talking about the moaning groaning zombie hordes Evo hasn't released them yet."
"Look,"
Sacha replied, "The great Evo, long may he rule, is malevolent and sickly, may his migraines pursue him forever." She made religious signs with her hands as she spoke. "But secretive he is not, a thousand years of pox to those who curse his name." She folded her hands and bowed her head for a moment. "Besides, you've been keeping an eye on the news! The back of that Max Brooks book is almost full, I've seen it. The time is now, chica!" She grinned, waving her hands emphatically.
"ok..."
Max said lighting another cigaret. "I'm going this direction." She pointed up "You can tell the merciful evo to pull the hangar ot of his anus sideways."
"Watch your words, impudent heathen!"
Sacha joked. "The mighty Evo's wrath is fluffy, and involves kittens!" She pulled out her butane lighter and a cigarrette and lit herself one also, mimicking Max's habit to a degree. "S'probably the best bet for right now, you're right."
"Yeah."
Max replied and sauntered loudly to the top of the staircase.
Sacha's eyebrows shot up at Max's curt response, but it was all par for the course. She grinned and followed Max. Even though Max was several stairs ahead of her, she could still see her hairline. She turned up her music so that the headphones around her neck spat out wailing guitars and shrieking vocals.
At the top of the stairs
Max chose her usualy spot on the window ledge. "I don't get it." She said looking out over the grounds. She saw severl students below getting shcked by the fence.
"What do you mean, 'you don't get it?'"
Sacha asked, sitting down and letting her long legs dangle over the edge, pulled down by her heavy boots. "What's not to get?" She leaned back on her palms and looked up at Max.
A voice rang out over the speakers, the voice was human but warped beyond recognition "H-hello? Can everyone come to.. uhh.. umm... the main entrance hall please?"
"This whole locking us in thing."
Max said fgter a long drag off her cigarett. "Why? What's the point?" As the message rang out she wrenched herself off the ledge. "What the fuck now?"
"Huh."
Sacha puffed away, half a grin lingering on her face. "Either we're being contained, or They are, and we're zombie food. Whaddayathink of that?" She shrugged. "Y'wanna go down?"
"We shoud be so lucky."
Max said dropping her cigarett on the wooden floor to smokder.
Maybe it'll brn the school down... she though "YEah, might as well see what's going on."`
The cigarette rolled across the floor and out of a small crack in the wall. It hit something far below and let out a loud hiss. There was a deep groan far below and suddenly the thing that it hit ignited like a match, throwing light across the grounds below. Black forms were swaying across the grounds, lit by the burning figure down below.
MErc ran up the stair until they all got to the top.She breathe heavily and set her heavy, unnature
ally huge backpack ont he ground."We should be safe up here.
Jacques, hidden somewhere near. Spied on the fiery thing Merc obviously didn't see. Entering now would prove too dangerous...
Breathing heavily, Naome looked over to the bag. "What the heck is in that thing?"
Merc looked at her and grinned. She opened her back and pulled out a machine gun.
Stefan stared at it, halfway up the stairs "Ummmmm... where did you get that from?" he asked. He felt the only one not carrying a weapon right now.
Naome walked over to him. "Are you alright Stefan?"
"My Oni-chan.He works for the army and he like to go hunting." Merc smiled cutely. She took off the trench coat she was wear two belts of amo.
Shaking slightly, Stefan stroked his hair back from his face "I... just feel kinda useless..." he mumbled.
Merc pulled out a hidden metal stick from her machine gun and gave it to him.
Naome hugged him. "Your not useless Stefan. I'm sure theres something you can use as a weapon... besides that stick Merc just gave you..." she said softly. She was trying to help him. She was also worrying a bit at how Uriko was acting around him. She was even starting to get a bit jealous.
Jacques clearly saw what was going on upstairs. "Mushy mushy mushy..." he said, and took out a 9mm gun from his inner pocket and kissed it tenderly. "At least you never let me down..." He took aim at the fiery thing and fired at what appeared to be the head.
There was a shatter of glass, a deep thud and the feiry thing that was vissable threw the window smacked to the floor out of sight.
Stefan jumped at the gun shot "D-damn it..." he swore "W-why are w-we in here anyway?"
"Its the safest place."Merc aimed the gun at Jacques."You!"
Jacques smiled to Merc and shot one more bullet into the thong's hell. Then he waved to him and got inside the Tower while the thing couldn't reach him. "Bonjour. Comment allez-vous mes amis?"
"....Huh?I don't speak french..."Merc twitched.
"It doesn't matter, said Jacques. DO any of you happens to want to die an horribly, crispy death?"
Naome held Stefan's hand blushing lightly. "No, I don't wanna burn... burns hurt..."
"I don't know everything yet so,no.I dont feel like burning.'
"Then stay right here and shoot instead of holding hands!!!!!" said Jacques, instantly going from giddy to mad. Then he emptied his magazine on the fiery monster.
MErc shrugged and cocked her machine gun, shooting wildly at the monster.
"Good boy," said Jacques, "someones wants to stay alive."
"Girl moron, and the first bullet killed it. Stop wasting ammo and hide" Stefan said, looking at the burning zombie outside as it lay on the floor not moving.
Merc twitched adn aimed the machine gun at Jacques."IM A GIRL!"
"Good boy is merely an expression. Geese (french accent)." Jacques shrugged and continued to shoot at dead burnign carcass, huming. "You have no ideas how many magazines I have hidden everywhere..."
Uriko walked to the clock tower. "If you want to live i suggest to takes some" she said dropping the bag of daggers.
"No thanks.I have Zim."Merc patted the machine gun.
"What would happen if you ran out of ammo?" Uriko asked her.
"Get eaten like a sausge, withotu the bun." answered Jacques, and then smiled, while taking a dagger.
Merc growled and took a dagger.
Naome looked up at Stefan then back to Uriko, wondering what their relationship was like. She shook her head and held one of her own daggers tightly.
Jacques sat in a corner and proceeded to clean his nails with the dagger while humming a tune and looking into nothingness.
Jonah entered, fresh from the gym with his bat still over his shoulders. He looked around the room to see who else had made it there and then silently made his way over to the window.
Merc looked at Jonah. She wondered why he wasn't freaking out that she had a machine gun.
Naome sighed softly, letting go of Stefan's hand. Her mind was buzzing. She took out her cell phone and was wishing she could check her voicemail, but of course, there was no signal.
Uriko saw Naome and Stefan holding hands and looked away. Maybe we weren't meant to be... she thought looking away.
Merc looked from Stefan,to Naome,to Uriko."...Love is dumb."
Jacques said, without changing his focus a bit: "SO are you but Love doesn't say anything unpleasant..."
Merc pointed the dagger Uriko gave her at Jacques."Wana say that to my face?!"
Jacques stared at Merc straight in the eyes and repeated, smiling. Then he pointed his gun at Merc. "She could say it too."
Uriko quickly came between the two, "Save it! Save it for when we really need to fight. If we all don't work to.gether we could all end up dead.." she told them both.
Merc sighed softly, then pointed the machine gun and Uriko."Out of my way."
Jacques dropped his gun to the floor. "Oops, silly me..." He began to laugh, and that laugh degnerated into maniacal laughter until he could barely breath.
Merc kept the machine gun pointed at him."What the hell are you...?"
Stefan looked from the pipe in his hand, to Jacques... then hit him hard on top of the head "Shut up you freak." He sighed gently, smiled at Naome and headed towards the door "This place is getting crowded..."
"I don't even know why I both to help anyone!" Uriko yelled trying to get out of there as fast as she could.
"If you guys want to live, stay up here."Merc warned them.
"Im useless with guns, knives and poles..." Stefan said, dropping the pole she had given him "Im going to the enginering room... atleast there I can make something."
Merc whimpered."I'll go with you two.I can't let my only two friends die."
Naome looked up at Stefan and smiled softly. "And I'm just gonna follow you." She blinked as Uriko ran out, feeling really bad.
Jacques was lying down, his eyes watering from the pain. You're no fun. I'm staying here and pouting.
Merc picked up Jacques and threw him over her shoulder."Your coming with us."
Grabbing his gun by the tip of his fingers, Jacques subsided. Not like he had a choice anyways...
"Okay, lets go."Merc let them out the door.
Jonah stayed where he was, staring at the window. He was trying to control himself, and this was taking quite a bit of energy and concentration. He'd decided there was enough melodrama ensuing for him to contribute to it.
The power vanished, the lights flickered and faded into darkness. Now the only thing lighting the way was the moonlight, and the faint glow of the zombies eyes.
Stefan walked in and blinked, rubbing his eyes slowly "I... I guess Alek found the power..." He looked around, the moonlight shining off his glasses still "I guess we should... go try the gate again..." He looked out the windows at the zombie infested grounds and whimpered.
Aleksandr limped into the room minutes after Rika, Stefan and Naome, biting at his lip being visible from under the mask as he looked at the ground. When he looked up and saw the others he quickly straightened up and forced back the limp as he walked to a place to sit down, tossing the bloodied pipe down to the ground afterwards. "Piece of cake."
Sighing, Stefan layed a hand on his shoulder "You ok? Want to rest here for a while? Rika can look after you while we check the gates."
"Hey, you aren't taking all of the glory." He teased, pulling Stefan down into his own lap and giving him a noogie, chuckling a bit. When he let the other male go, Aleksandr looked down at the wet bite mark on his pant leg, a small frown coming to his face under is mask, so it was unseen.
"ACK!" Stefan said, his arms flailing. As his head was held under Alek's arm he noticed the wet mark. "You've been bitten..." he said gently "Stay here. You're not infected or you'd be dead, but you'll be slowed down now."
"Hey, I'm fine. It'll more than likely be numb soon, so the faster we move to go check out the gates the faster we can find a place to rest, or something." The Russian said, pushing himself up and kicking the toe of his boot into the ground to readjusted his shoe a bit.
"Dont make me thump you, now you've been bitten I think I'll have a chance" Stefan said, shaking a fist weakly at Alek. "You can wring the bell to tell everyone to go the the gates if we can open them..."
"You wouldn't have a chance if my limbs were ripped from my body and my heart was smashed, Stefan... Get real." Aleksandr laughed halfheartedly before sighing in defeat and plopping back down into the chair. "Fine, but I don't like it."
Rika knelt at Alek's side and handed him his gun that he had told her to get. he pulled out a pocket knife, needle and thread from her jacket. Being as delicate as possible, she peeled open the leg of his pants.
"Hey hey hey! I was bitten, I was not feasted upon!" Aleksandr stated, quickly pulling his leg away from Rika and her evil needle. Not being one for needles, only using then if he really needed to inject his medicine. he grabbed the gun and gently pushed her needle weilding hand away from him, shuddering slightly.
"If not bad, you then not limp. Yes you limped...sew I must please?" Rika asked, hopeful.
"No needle." He whimpered out, standing himself up and slipping his gun into the deep pocket of his pants before walking steadily over to a window. Aleksandr sat himself down on the window sill and tucked his sore leg under his thigh, shaking his head and gripping his fingers into his jeans.
Stefan sighed gently "just stay here and dont die." He nodded towards the door "Come on Naome... Im going to need some protection for this."
"She's going to kill me with a needle!" Aleksandr proclaimed, shooting Stefan a desperate and fearful look.
"That would be something to watch..." Stefan said, crossing his arms and looking at Alek. He hated needles as well but he wouldn't resist in Alek's situation.
"Please don't let her..." Aleksandr feigned a tear and a few sniffles, puckering his lower lip slightly.
"Fine!" Rika said finally and stuffed her supplies in her jacket and sat herself down on the creaky wooden floor. She crossed her arns and turned away from Alek. "Bother me none if you bleed out-"
Sophia made her way to the clock tower with Star, avoiding as many zombies as possible and spearing those that were unavoidable in the eyes with her high heels. She was surprised at herself, impressed, almost, that she hadn't mentally broken down, yet. Star's earlier encouragement had probably helped more than she realized.
Stefan smiled as he saw newcomers "Great, survivors. We've knocked out the power, me and Naome are going to test the gates again to see if they're electrified. You two, hold the masked wimp over there down." He pointed to Alek before heading out the door, dragging Naome with him.
"Just because I do not wish to be sewn up... Geez!" Aleksandr watched Stefan go and sighed softly, now looking down at Rika. "Rika.." He mumbled as he slid off of the sill and walked over to the small female on the ground, sitting down next to her and nudging her with his elbow. "Don't be upset with me. I'm fine, really. I just don't like needle.." He looked up briefly at the newcomers, quickly dismissing them to put his attention back on the woman next to him.
"At least may clean up und wrap shut your wound?" Rika asked, sliding onto her knees.
"There really is no wound, it is just crushed nerves and whatnot. Honest.. But, if you want you may." Aleksandr complied, rolling up his pant leg and turning his leg to the side so she could get a good view of the quickly forming bruise and broken blood vessels under the skin.
Rika smiled and took out her wrap. At least it would stiffen his leg so it was easier to walk on it. Since there wasn't much to clean, she wrapped the band around his leg a few times and tapped it shut.
When Star had entered, she sat down for a break, letting out a tired sigh. She'd never been this busy before. This was definitely a work out for her.
Aleksandr looked up to Star after his leg had been wrapped, tilting his head slightly. "Are you thirtsy, woman?" He wrapped his arm around Rika's form and held her close.
Star fixed her gaze on Aleksandr. "Yes.." she replied. Looking at Sophia with a small smile, so small that you couldn't even see it. She was actually proud of Sophia. She wasn't what Star had thought she'd be and had been doing very good. Her smile had faded and her expresionless face had fazed onto her face once more.
Nodding and removing his arm from Rika, Aleksandr stood up and finished the bottle of Gatorade form his pocket as he walked over to the seated female. He handed it to her and nodded his head curtly before turning back around and walking off, looking around for something. "Hm.." He hummed to himself, quickly grabbing a small container, about the size of a silver dollar, and sat back down on the ground. He tore off a piece of his pant leg, a saliva soaked piece, and put it into the container. Slipping the clear container into his pocket after lidding it, he sighed softly to himself and leaned back, propping himself up with his arms.
Rika smiled, feeling like she was helpful to Alek. She got up from the floor finally and brushed her jacket up. There had been no sign of zombies for a while. Perhaps they had moved on?
"Thank you.." Star had said quietly, but loud enough to hear to Akeksandr before he walked off. She took her filled drink from the bottle then wiped her mouth off with her hand when she'd finished and went up to Sophia. "Do you need a drink?" she asked.
With a slight grunt, unsure of whether or not he had bullets in his gun, Aleksandr sat up once more and pulled the gun from his pocket. He let the magazine fall into his hand and checked the bullets, nodding a bit he slid the magazine back into the gun and slid the weapon into the waist of his pants. He pushed himself up and began to walk around, strumming his fingers on a few dests here and there, restless already.
"So..." Rika began, seeing that there was a silent lull, "Zombie if follow into tower, we jump die yes? Trapped tis we all be then."
"I won't let you guys get hurt, honest. You know, there has to be something we can do to move the time along until Stefan and Naome get back.. It's so boring." The Russian complained.
"Hold too much yourself on, you do." Rika walked over to him and poked his chest a little, "This one can protect thyself. Underestimate me thus should not."
"We aren't jumping if zombies box us in, that's for damn sure." He made clear, rubbing at his chest and glowering at the floor.
"Point missed. ...Que sera..." Rika sighed and leaned an elbow on the windowsill, gazing down at the school yard.
Sophia nodded her head and took a seat next to Star, accepting the gatorade and then drinking from the bottle. After she'd finished taking a drink, she sat there and stared at the bottle. Her bloodied, modified high heels were lying in front of her and she wondered if anyone else had ever thought to use them like she'd been using them. After a moment, she looked up at Star and gave her a faint smile. "I...I don't know your name," she said.
"My name is Star.." Star answered, looking over at Sophia. "And what is your name?"
"I'm Sophia," she introduced, and gave Star a genuine smile. "It's nice to meet you."
Aleksandr flicked his wrist a bit and walked towards the door, placing his hands against the door frame and leaning out to peek about. He looked back and out of the window to see the moon. "Are you three tired?"
"This one engulfed adrenalin, thus is fine. Beside coffee grounds in vial pocket I have, Ask why?" Rika asked, still looking out the window.
The scream of pain and the sight of a six foot four nerd being flung across the grounds told everyone watching that yes, the gates were still electrified. So much for that plan.
"Stefan..?" Completely forgetting about the others in the room for the moment, Aleksandr laughed and steadied himself against a wall. He just thought it was funny that Stefan, a brainy kid, would grab the gate instead of kick a zombie at it. When he was done laughing he walked over to the window and looked out into the grounds, a small smile tugging at his lips from under the mask.
The loud cackling, roar of an engine and the sight of a zombie smashing into the clock tower window told everyone that Stefan was ok and seemed to be slightly hardwired by the shock.
"Rika... Maybe, perhaps... We should go see if Stefan is still himself?" Aleksandr asked, sucking at his teeth and tilting his head slightly.
"Yes! Boring is the atmosphere of the towers as this." Rika said, opening the door down the stairwell.
Aleksandr let out a grunt and followed along after the small female.
