The Only Rule Of This Wiki Is:
We Are All Different. But If We Want To Call Ourselves Humans We Must Respect Each Other!!!

<img:http://elftown.heddate.com/img/drawing/41602_1090321880.jpg>

Intolerant? Afraid of everything that is 'strange'? Afraid of terrorism, or of being overruled? Feeling threatened?
A simple eye-opener:

Imagine the following situation.
A huge environmental disaster has taken place. The only place left on earth where the air is still safe and clean enough to breathe for the next ten years is - let's say - Iraq (...or China, or Denmark, or Ghana, any given place on earth that is not at all like the place where you are living NOW.) Fortunately, you have the possibility to flee to Iraq, together with your partner, your children, all your loved ones. Strange country, strange language, different culture that you know nothing about, different religion. How would YOU want to be treaten by the Iraqi's? Which kind of support would you be hoping to receive from the local residents? For instance, how would you want your children to be treaten at school? To which ones of your own moralities, habits, cultural traditions etc. would you want to hold on? How would you like the people there to respect you and your personal wishes and morality? In how far would you be willing to adjust to the Iraqi society rules and habits, their culture, their religion? Don't start yelling right away :) All I'm asking you to do is give five minutes of your time for considering these questions. Write down your answers, that might make it easier. And then try to realise that what YOU have written, YOUR personal wishes, YOUR hopes, the things YOU'd need to feel at home in a strange culture and in a strange country are exactly the kind of things that people with a different cultural background/religion want from YOU if they live in YOUR country. There's finally nothing weird or incomprehensible about that, is there..?
(Sure, you may copy and paste this little "test" to your home pages, diaries and guestbooks :)

ARE YOU AFRAID??

*** *** *** *** ***

Collective fear...

...stimulates herd-instinct. Stimulates hostility toward all those that are not considered Members of the Herd. And don't we have some REALLY good reasons to exclude people from the safety of our herd..?

*wrong skin-color
*wrong religion
*wrong outfit
*wrong attitude

I mean, what are we???

A BUNCH OF COWS??

What are we so afraid of? Let me tell you, though you already know... (and some of you won't like to hear this as they think they are sooo brave and cool...).

YOU are afraid of your own conscience! Because it says: we are NOT taking good care of eachother! We are sooo afraid to SHARE our wealth, 'cause just MAYBE we would have to be satisfied with a little less than what we have now...

Say you're not a racist? Maybe you aren't. I mean: you should know! Look in the mirror. Ask yourself: How do I feel about -let's say- Muslims? Preps? Skinheads? Would you, e.g., look upon a Goth as an individual? As a member of a strange clan? Would you walk up to him, ask him WHY he's into Gothic? Would you do that if he were with a group? How do you feel about people not being allowed to cover their head, or wear colors?
I don't have the answers. But: think! Analyze your opinions. Where do they come from? What values and principles were you brought up with? Taking certain opinions for granted without inquiring can lead toward racism. Or worse: discrimination in general!

(The following seems to have taken place once during a flight of a British Airways plane, on its way from Johannesburg to London.)

A white woman, about 50 years of age, finds her seat...next to a black man.
Visibly upset, she calls the hostess.
- "Can I help you Ma'am? Is there a problem?" the hostess asks.

- "Well, then...can't you SEE it??" the lady answers, "I have been given a seat next to a colored!! I do not wish to stay in the presence of a such repugnant creature! I couldn't bear it! Give me another seat!"

- "Please, calm down, Ma'am", says the hostess. "Almost every seat on this flight is taken. I will find out if there is any seat left."

The hostess returns after a couple of minutes.
- "Ma'am, just like I feared, there is not one seat left on economy class. I have spoken to the flight commander, and he has confirmed that on business class, there are no available seats either. But...there IS one on first class..."

Before the lady can make any comments, the hostess continues:
- "It is VERY uncommon for our flight company to allow passengers from economy class to transfer to first class. But, regarding the circumstances, we are willing to make an exception. The commander says it would be a disgrace to make someone sit next to a such disagreeable person."

And turning toward the black man, she says:
- "So, sir, if you wish, you can take your hand luggage, and go to first class, where a seat is waiting for you."

All the other passengers, who had overheard the conversation and were shocked, gave the hostess a standing ovation.

NOTE: As you see this wiki has a password! It didn't have one before! This is because some people who disagree with the Anti-Racism ideal tried to destroy this page!
